The Cuban Missile Crisis

The Cuban Missile Crisis was considered “the hottest moment in the Cold War” because of the fact that the Soviet missiles were only powerful enough to be launched against Europe but the United States. missiles were capable of striking against the entire Soviet Union and sometime In late April 1962. The Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev came up with the idea of placing missiles in Cuba. To intimidate the u.s from invating Cuba and in 1962 the Soviet Union worked fast and secretly to build its missile installed in Cuba. Some time in October 1962 the United states got photographs that revealed the Soviet was secretly constructing missiles in Cuba. President John .f. Kennedy made a group know by the name of Ex-Comm which was made up by twelve of his most trusted man which he made in charge of taken care of the sittuation President Kennedy also said that any nuclear missile that would be launched from Cuba would be considerd as an attack on the U.S by the Soviet Union and demanded that the Soviets remove all of their offensive weapons from Cuba. One of the worst days was in October 27 when the crisis really got bad when a U-2 was shut down in cuba and President J.f.Kennedy recived a letter from Khrushchev demending the u.s to remove there missiles from turkey if they wanted the missles removed from cuban land but President Kennedey decided to ignor it.
